Finding the Right Shade...

Do you ever have problems figuring out what color eye shadow you should wear? Well a lot of girls do. They are never sure if they should match or contrast their make-up color with their clothes or eyes. The answer to that question is easy. The reason for wearing eye shadow is to make your eyes stand out right? Then why bury them with boring colors that simply match. If your eyes are brown, you don’t want to wear brown eye shadow because they will get lost. It’s the same if you are wearing a blue shirt, you don’t want to wear blue shadow. If you wear a light colored eye shadow, dress it up with a black eye liner to make it stand out even more. For an example, two colors that tend to go well together are green and pink. If you are wearing a green shirt, try pink eye shadow or if you’re wearing a pink shirt try green eye shadow. Also if you have brown eyes, try blue eye shadow, it will help it stand out much more. The eyes are the windows to our soul and we want everyone to be able to see through them. If it means wearing make-up that can accentuate that, more power to it. Here are a few colors to try that are contrasting and will compliment different eye colors:

Brown: Try purple, gold, blue, burnt oranges and gray. Use eyeliner and mascara to make your eyes stand out even more. Stay away from dark browns or blacks because it will blend in too much instead of stand out.

Blue: Don’t ever try to use a different shade of blue if you have blue eyes, your eyes will look dull. Try lilac, camel, lavender, and taupe. These colors will make your eyes look bluer than they already are. If you use black, don’t use too much of it or you will look too Goth. The trick to make –up is making it look like you aren’t wearing make-up.

Hazel: Try using deep mauves, pinks, lavender, plums and eggplant. Your eyes will look more alive after using these colors.

Green: Use brownish-pinks, mauve, salmon and purple. Your eyes will look sexier and vibrant.

After your choose a color that compliments your eyes, remember to think about what you are wearing and try to contrast those colors as well. If you have blue eyes and are wearing lavender eye shadow but are wearing a lavender shirt, you might want to try something different. The ultimate goal when wearing eye shadow is to make your eyes stand out, and have an overall balance to your appearance.

If you follow these simple steps you will be ready for a night on the town, or maybe a nice dinner with a friend or two at a restaurant. Whatever the occasion, these tips will be helpful to make you look your best. So go out there and buy some new shades. You will be happy with your results!
